My Name is Rachel Dare - Ep. 1“It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune…must be in want of a wife,” Rachel said into the camera. She held up the pink shirt her mom had gotten her. “My mom got both of us these last Christmas. I have yet to wear it…ever.”My Name is Rachel Dare - Ep. 1 by ~tumblinteaaa
She saw Annabeth holding back laughter behind the camera and glared.
I’ll cut it out, Annabeth mouthed.
It wasn’t funny in that the sense that the words themselves were funny, it was funny because Mrs. Dare seemed to die a little inside each time she saw Rachel wearing a cheap t-shirt. And yet she had gotten Rachel one for Christmas.
“Who am I?” Rachel asked. “I’m a 24 year old grad student with a mountain of student loans, living at home and preparing for a career.”
She didn’t bother mentioning that she only had a mountain of student loans because she refused to let her parent pay them (and they didn’t want to), and also didn
WeaponlessHe shoved Bellyn to the ground.Weaponless by ~tumblinteaaa
I was almost on the other side of the room, and my leg had a pretty nasty gash in it.
He slapped her across the face and she kicked him in the shin.
I winced. August was going to kill me if he found out about this.
Bell tried to stand, but he kept pushing her down. Her eyes blazed. She reached down to her side for the small gun she always kept as a last resort.
"You little brat," he sneered, "you think you will be able to survive out here. You and your kind? Ha! As if you could–"

He stumbled backwards, holding a hand to his head. Holding my breath, I waited for him to drop. He didn't.
He wiped his hand on his gray pants and laughed. "Think a little bullet will stop me?" He blinked and his eyes turned black, the deep black that still gave me nightmares.
He laughed again. "You're hardly in the right place to preform an exorcism." He snatched the gun from her and threw it over his shou
The ShipThe ship was off limits, those were the rules. The Ship by ~tumblinteaaa
And she usually followed them.
It was tempting to touch the ship, but just looking at it was good enough.
The ship was her father's most prized possession. It was bigger than she was and had all the details of a real ship. Whenever she asked where exactly he got it, he'd just shrug and say, "Just from an old friend."
She wanted to meet this "old friend." She wanted to know if he had a ship of his own or if he hand any others. She wanted to know where he got it.
The day she broke the rule was a beautiful one.
The sun was shinning and the sky was clear. Sun streamed through every window of the house.
The ship was just sitting there in front of its window; the drapes flung open and sunlight shinning through the sails.
And she couldn't help but think, "One little touch won't hurt."
